Construction engineers plan and implement methods for creating and preserving our global infrastructure. Essential tools for modern construction engineers encompass: proficiency in mathematics, science, and computing, innovative thinking, a talent for using scientific and engineering techniques to address challenges, enthusiasm for constructing various projects like bridges, airports, buildings, stadiums, dams, and roadways, willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor settings, self-motivation and dedication, the capacity to cooperate with a variety of individuals, effective communication abilities, and an eagerness to continuously learn in a dynamic field.

Enrollees in the Construction Engineering and Management curriculum can gain specialized knowledge in mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, management, building information modeling, and numerous other areas by pursuing minors in these disciplines. They undertake three paid 12-week internships prior to graduation, typically during summer months, with positions available nationwide. Students have gained experience as close as their local communities and as distant as Norway, serving as compensated professionals in the construction sector and taking on progressively responsible roles in fieldwork, administrative functions, and project oversight. The program additionally offers international experiences, ranging from engineering service projects in Ecuador—developing cross-cultural connections and constructing community-enhancing facilities—to global internship and study abroad options.
