This program equips students with skills for careers in data management and analysis, covering domains like machine learning, information retrieval, and data mining. The curriculum ensures students grasp and can practically implement concepts of data representation, knowledge systems, search methodologies, and data-driven learning and reasoning.
Computer Science Honors majors must complete all standard BS requirements plus extra coursework and a research initiative. Honors candidates need to maintain a 3.25 overall GPA with a minimum 3.6 in Computer Science and designated CSHO classes. The program mandates advanced mathematics, three specialized CS/ECE courses, a research seminar with project, and a graduate-level class. While ideal for those pursuing advanced studies, it also benefits students entering the workforce. The Machine Intelligence focus trains students for data-centric roles, emphasizing practical application of machine learning, information systems, and analytical techniques.
Eligible students can declare this major after their first semester or completing six core courses. Honors College admits may also enroll. Students meeting requirements can apply for admission up to their seventh semester, provided they have at least two remaining semesters to complete the research components.
