The study of philosophy offers students the chance to explore diverse philosophical questions through various traditions, methods, and viewpoints. The curriculum enhances abilities in analytical reasoning, thoughtful writing, and deep contemplation of significant philosophical dilemmas—both timeless and modern—spanning ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, language, logic, sciences, politics, art, and religion. Philosophy connects students with key intellectual traditions by examining works from influential thinkers throughout history, while also highlighting their societal and cultural impact.
Philosophy majors also develop the crucial ability to question these texts, uncovering underlying assumptions—including their own—and rigorously assessing opposing viewpoints, arguments, and perspectives. This equips them with both specialized knowledge and the analytical tools necessary to tackle humanity's pressing global issues, both today and tomorrow. Students are also encouraged to engage in study abroad programs, research projects, and extracurricular activities within and beyond the discipline.
