Exploring the intersection between large-scale structures and compact urban spaces in today's increasingly crowded cities, you'll develop insights into urban design's critical function in tackling climate challenges and social disparities. The urban landscape both reflects and often exacerbates the parallel rise in population, heat levels, emissions, and flood risks. The MS Urban Design program challenges the urban environment to showcase innovative forms, methods, and approaches for city resilience.
Concentrating on comprehensive architectural solutions incorporating both landscape and building techniques, you'll master designing for modern urban density while safeguarding cultural, economic, and environmental assets. Coursework delves into urban studies, digital fabrication, data visualization, and virtual city modeling. Hands-on urban research in New York City and Brooklyn, along with collaborative design reviews involving peers, instructors, and field experts, will sharpen both your conceptual understanding and practical abilities.
Applicants must have received a Bachelor of Architecture (five-year program) from an accredited school of architecture.
TOEFL score of 79 (internet and home test), TOEFL ITP Plus for China of 550, IELTS of 6.5, Duolingo of 105, or PTE of 53 is required.
