The Master of Science in Urban Planning is a two-year accredited professional program. Our curriculum adopts an international, comparative approach to urban planning, emphasizing social equity and transformative practice. It bridges the study of urban environments with in-depth examination of socioeconomic and political contexts to shape planning methods and theory focused on achieving racial, social, and environmental justice. We equip students to challenge and dismantle oppressive systems stemming from class disparities, racial discrimination, and gender inequality. Through analyzing how worldwide phenomena (including migration, environmental shifts, and health crises) affect urban areas, communities, and neighborhoods - spanning both developed and developing regions - the program seeks to cultivate innovative planning and policy solutions that enhance urban systems globally.
All applicants must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university by the time they start the M.S. UP program.
