As an aspiring heritage professional, you'll acquire the essential skills and hands-on experience required to recognize, revitalize, and safeguard sites and artifacts that embody both our shared history and inclusive future. Pratt's 47-credit, four-semester Master of Science in Historic Preservation equips students with interdisciplinary expertise through a socially conscious, justice-oriented curriculum. This program prepares preservationists to utilize architectural and cultural resources in tackling pressing community issues like gentrification, displacement, racial inequity, social disparities, and environmental challenges. Pratt's distinguished faculty of scholars and practitioners provides comprehensive training in preservation theory, research methodologies, legal frameworks, architectural history, and conservation techniques. Through advanced coursework, students participate in active heritage conservation initiatives and cutting-edge research, collaborating directly with community members to document, interpret, and protect meaningful places.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
TOEFL score of 79 (internet and home test), TOEFL ITP Plus for China of 550, IELTS of 6.5, Duolingo of 105, or PTE of 53 is required. Admission is for fall and spring term.
