Train to become a skilled designer equipped for today's significant challenges. As either a corporate professional or business owner, you'll create innovative design solutions that enhance quality of life. Pratt's Industrial Design program shapes graduates into diverse roles - designers, artists, educators, business founders, researchers, and industry executives - through a curriculum promoting discovery and career advancement. Your foundation starts with essential courses in sketching, color theory, 3D modeling, prototyping, and digital tools, alongside design studios that cultivate analytical skills, creative problem-solving, and ecological awareness. Upper-level years feature specialized studios concentrating on personal interests like consumer products, furnishings, tableware, culinary design, sports equipment, or display concepts. The design studio forms the heart of Pratt's educational approach - serving as both creative workshop and miniature community that links to broader society. We maintain that meaningful learning occurs equally in studio practice and formal instruction, with hands-on work significantly contributing to student development. Engaging with materials and equipment in the studio expands understanding of form creation and design experimentation possibilities.
