The Mathematics Department provides degree programs customized to meet each student's unique goals. For undergraduates, we feature a Bachelor of Science (BS) with three specialization options. Two of these focus on teaching careers. The 5-8 specialization leads to certification for teaching middle school (late childhood to early adolescence). The 6-12 specialization qualifies graduates to teach high school (early to late adolescence). Students can also pursue a flexible Mathematics Minor that complements various STEM or business fields. We additionally offer a Mathematics Minor specifically for Teaching Grades 5-8, designed for those seeking middle school teaching certification.
