Pittsburg State University's Elementary Education program emphasizes practical classroom experience alongside top-rated elementary educators. Our faculty guide future teachers in transforming their enthusiasm for education into impactful classroom practices that create lasting impressions on young learners. Elementary Education majors (K-6) primarily concentrate on Pitt State Pathway courses during their initial two years. The final two years involve advanced academic studies combined with professional training and real-world applications. Students complete their education with a senior-year internship and professional semester, featuring an extended off-campus teaching placement. Throughout the program, participants engage in more than 1,000 hours of hands-on field and clinical experiences.
