The Associate in Arts Degree in Sociology for Transfer prepares students to transition into a sociology bachelor's program.
This program provides a structured examination of human social systems and interpersonal connections. Those working toward the transfer-focused AA degree
will explore social theories, research methodologies, organizational frameworks,
class systems and power structures, patterns of societal transformation, family dynamics, behavioral norms and regulation, with applications to
specific communities, societal institutions, and contemporary issues.
Graduates with an AA-T in Sociology receive assured benefits when transferring to the CSU system: guaranteed junior standing at a CSU institution and preferential admission to both a CSU campus and a sociology-related program. Transfer students to CSU campuses will need to complete a maximum of 60 additional units to obtain their bachelor's degree.
