Plants play a crucial role in sustaining life on our planet. Researchers in plant biology utilize these vital organisms to tackle challenges like climate change, food shortages, biodiversity decline, and health threats. The Intercollege Graduate Degree Program in Plant Biology enables students to investigate plants at various scales, from microscopic cellular processes to entire plant systems. The curriculum features interdisciplinary courses taught collaboratively, showcasing the diversity of scientific disciplines and their interconnections. Additionally, each student must produce an original research thesis.
Students with a 3.00 junior/senior grade-point average (on a 4.00 scale) and with appropriate course background will be considered for admission. The best-qualified applicants will be accepted up to the number of spaces available for new students. Students entering this program should have a strong foundation in the biological sciences, including biochemistry, general physics, and college mathematics through calculus. Students with limited deficiencies may be admitted but must make up their deficiencies concurrently with their graduate studies.
