The Master of Science in Entomology serves as either an intermediate or terminal degree, fostering specialized expertise in specific entomological fields while incorporating hands-on research. This program prepares students for potential doctoral studies. Master's degree committees should be established in the initial semester through collaboration between the student and advisor, subject to Department Head approval. These committees require at least three members, with one preferably from a different academic discipline, especially if the student pursues a minor in that field. Adjunct faculty may not form the majority of the committee. Early in the program, students and their committees must convene to design the academic plan and approve the thesis research project.
For admission to the Graduate School, an applicant must hold a degree from an officially recognized degree-granting institution in the country in which it operates. Degree must be a: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or Tertiary (postsecondary) degree that is deemed comparable to a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution.
