The Master of Science in Biology is a rigorous research-focused program designed to equip students for diverse careers in life sciences or advanced academic pursuits. This graduate program features specialized tracks in Cell and Molecular Biology or Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, offering both thesis and non-thesis pathways, requiring 30 credit hours for completion, with flexible admission cycles - review admission requirements and curriculum details. Students gain hands-on experience in scientific research methodologies, encompassing hypothesis formulation, experimental design, data interpretation, scholarly writing, and presentation skills, complemented by opportunities to assist in teaching undergraduate laboratory courses.
Participants will pursue original research projects utilizing cutting-edge facilities in our recently constructed science complex (opened Fall 2020) and the newly established Technology and Innovation Center. With intentionally limited class sizes and a collaborative environment, students receive personalized guidance from our distinguished faculty, who are actively engaged in groundbreaking research across multiple disciplines including cancer biology, developmental processes, ecological systems, and molecular mechanisms, supported by prestigious funding organizations such as the NSF, NIH, and Fish and Wildlife Service.
