The Master of Science program offers a curriculum tailored to individual interests, covering diverse fields like botany, ecology, immunology, infectious diseases, marine biology, microbiology, physiology, reproductive biology, systematic biology, and zoology. Students benefit from access to the Kaplan Orchid Conservatory and exceptional off-campus research opportunities at locations such as Blackwater Ecological Preserve, Virginia Coast Reserve-Long Term Ecological Research Site, Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences Eastern Shore Marine Laboratory, and various regional facilities. The One Health specialization caters to MS students focused on this interdisciplinary approach, which fosters collaboration across human, animal, and environmental health sectors. This concentration provides foundational knowledge in One Health principles and their practical implementation. Admission to the concentration occurs following the formation of a guidance committee and approval of the student's academic plan.
