Penn State's Bioinformatics and Genomics Graduate Program prepares scientists to bridge biology with computer science and statistics. The Penn State Bioinformatics & Genomics program does not require or evaluate GRE scores for admissions. Our comprehensive assessment considers academic achievements, research background, involvement in scientific and professional growth initiatives, and non-academic accomplishments, among other factors
For admission to the Graduate School, an applicant must hold a degree from an officially recognized degree-granting institution in the country in which it operates. Degree must be a: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or Tertiary (postsecondary) degree that is deemed comparable to a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution.
English Proficiency: Applicants to the BG program must have a minimum TOEFL score of 575 for the paper-based test, or a total score of 90 with a 19 on the speaking section for the Internet-based test (iBT). Successful applicants generally have a minimum score of 100 (including 23 on the speaking component) on the Internet-based test; IELTS - The minimum acceptable composite score for the IELTS Academic Test is 6.5.
