The Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ABENG) program equips students with specialized knowledge to tackle critical global issues like energy, sustainability, food security, and environmental health. Key study areas encompass agricultural equipment, mechatronics, environmental monitoring, resource management, climate impacts, bioprocessing, food systems, safety protocols, bio-based materials, and analytical methodologies for economic and environmental assessments. The ABENG Master's program emphasizes original research culminating in a thesis.
State-of-the-art research infrastructure includes advanced instrumentation, complemented by Penn State's extensive network of specialized facilities such as environmental and energy institutes, life sciences centers, materials research labs, nanotechnology platforms, computational resources, food production centers, USDA research stations, mushroom cultivation facilities, and a vast agricultural research complex supporting crop, livestock, and horticultural studies.
