Graduate students in French and Francophone Studies with a focus on global visual culture can pursue the Dual-Title Doctoral Program in Visual Studies. This program seeks to (a) equip students with theoretical and methodological frameworks for examining French, Francophone, and global literature, culture, and society, (b) foster innovative research bridging fields like cultural anthropology, philosophy, socio-cultural and literary history, stylistics, urban studies, visual culture, and gender studies, and (c) mentor students in developing specialized expertise to conduct publication-worthy research across diverse analytical contexts (including urban spaces, libraries, archives, educational settings, performance venues, and ecological environments). Graduates will be prepared for academic careers or professional opportunities in related disciplines.
For admission to the Graduate School, an applicant must hold a degree from an officially recognized degree-granting institution in the country in which it operates. Degree must be a: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or Tertiary (postsecondary) degree that is deemed comparable to a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution.
English Proficiency: TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT); TOEFL Paper-based test - the minimum acceptable score is 550; IELTS - The minimum acceptable composite score for the IELTS Academic Test is 6.5.
