The Department of Architecture holds membership in the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, with its Bachelor of Architecture program being officially recognized by the National Architectural Accrediting Board. This program offers both professional and pre-professional architectural education.
Across the U.S., state licensing boards typically mandate graduation from an accredited professional architecture program for licensure eligibility. The NAAB, as the exclusive accrediting body for U.S. architecture programs, endorses three degree types: Bachelor of Architecture, Master of Architecture, and Doctor of Architecture.
Accreditation periods vary, with programs receiving 6-year, 3-year, or 2-year terms based on their adherence to educational standards.
Doctor of Architecture and Master of Architecture programs may combine a pre-professional undergraduate degree with a professional graduate degree to form a complete accredited education. It's important to note that standalone pre-professional degrees don't carry accreditation status.
After fulfilling the four-year ARCBS program requirements, students have the option to graduate from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science degree.
