This program equips students for professional paths in auditing, public accounting, corporate financial management, and government/nonprofit accounting. It also establishes a strong foundation for those intending to pursue advanced degrees in accounting or related disciplines. Upon completing the required coursework and obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree, graduates meet the educational prerequisites to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. Alumni may also choose to pursue additional credentials such as Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
Accounting professionals create and analyze financial information essential for decision-making by executives, investors, government agencies, and other stakeholders. To excel in their roles, accountants must master both quantitative analysis and conceptual thinking while collaborating effectively as team members. They interact closely with colleagues in their specialized departments as well as with financial information users across their organization. This frequent cross-departmental collaboration gives accountants a distinctive opportunity to gain comprehensive business insight.
