The program equips graduates with a sociological understanding of human behavior through exposure to various aspects of the discipline. Students gain knowledge about American society's structure, diversity, and global connections, along with foundational skills in scientific methodology, statistics, research design, computing, logical reasoning, and their application to studying human behavior. The curriculum also provides hands-on experience in formulating sociological inquiries and gathering/analyzing data to address them. Graduates are prepared for diverse career paths in public and private sectors, advanced studies in sociology or related fields, or professional programs in social work, law, business, or healthcare.

Students can opt for either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science track. The B.A. in Sociology offers a traditional liberal arts education, while the B.S. focuses more on developing quantitative abilities, requiring additional coursework in mathematics and related social sciences.

The department offers teaching and research assistant positions, and encourages students to pursue study abroad programs or internships during their B.A. or B.S. studies in sociology.

Alumni have secured roles in social research, social services, government and corporate research divisions, business sectors (particularly sales and marketing), or pursued advanced degrees in sociology, social work, policy analysis, or law.
