The kinesiology graduate program provides academic coursework and hands-on training focused on the scientific and applied aspects of physical movement (encompassing exercise and athletics) to enhance wellness and prevent illness.

Advanced study areas within kinesiology consist of exercise science, disability movement research, biomechanical neurology, community health through physical activity, athletic and exercise psychology, and sports education (available at master's level exclusively).

Students pursuing kinesiology can select the Adapted Physical Activity specialization, which appears on official academic records.

Master's candidates may choose between a thesis or applied project, while doctoral students must successfully defend a dissertation.

The GRE is not required
Students applying to the kinesiology graduate program should have completed, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, exercise and sport science or closely related field with background coursework appropriate to the chosen area of concentration (i.e., biophysical or psychosocial). There are no program-wide pre-requisite courses given the breadth of expertise in kinesiology
