The Department of Integrative Biology provides graduate programs culminating in Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees, covering biological disciplines from molecular to ecosystem scales.

Investigations take place in campus labs, at Oregon's Malheur Field Station, Newport's Hatfield Marine Science Center, the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest, and throughout Cascade Mountain and Willamette Valley ecosystems. Collaborative opportunities exist with other university departments, Portland's Oregon Health and Science University, and Beaverton's Primate Research Center.

Graduate training includes mandatory participation in departmental seminars, with doctoral candidates completing at least one year of teaching assistantship. Financial support typically comes through teaching or research assistantships. Candidates must demonstrate comprehensive biological knowledge. Master's candidates complete either a thesis or research report (non-thesis path), while doctoral students conduct original dissertation research advancing their specialized field.
