The department provides graduate programs culminating in M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Statistics. Students may focus on theoretical foundations or practical applications, with customizable programs highlighting specialized fields like ecology, engineering, forestry, genetics/genomics and computational biology, mathematics, or oceanography. Every student gains hands-on experience through statistical consulting across diverse domains such as agriculture, biology, forestry, exercise physiology, and engineering. Those with environmental science interests can acquire both classroom and field experience with statistical techniques for environmental data analysis.
For M.S. candidates, completing a thesis is optional. The program incorporates statistical consulting, allowing students to develop a stronger understanding of statistical methods' relevance and effectiveness by working with real-world challenges.
