Materials science is a multidisciplinary field that draws from chemistry, physics, biology, earth sciences, agricultural studies, mathematics, and various engineering disciplines.
Mirroring this diverse nature, Oregon State University's materials science program, established in the 1980s, operates across nine departments within three colleges. Students can pursue MEng, M.S., or Ph.D. degrees with various specializations covering all material types and their diverse properties. The curriculum offers significant flexibility, enabling students to customize their studies to align with their research focus.
Prospective graduate students must hold a bachelor's or master's degree in a scientific, mathematical, or engineering field to qualify for admission.
