The Speech Communication program requires 48 credit hours of coursework centered on two key themes: interpersonal relationships and rhetorical studies.
In the relational communication track, students explore topics like workplace dynamics, team interactions, healthcare communication, family relationships, cross-cultural exchanges, as well as conflict resolution and mediation techniques. The rhetoric concentration offers studies in debate strategies, influence techniques, propaganda analysis, visual communication, activism trends, media analysis, and electoral communication.
Alumni have pursued successful careers in communication-intensive fields such as media relations, professional training, teaching, nonprofit leadership, dispute resolution, political work, marketing, and business leadership. Many graduates have also gained admission to prestigious law schools and other advanced degree programs.
