Develop expertise in using assessment tools to identify and measure addiction severity while mastering therapeutic techniques that support recovery. Rooted in practical application, K-State's addiction counseling curriculum equips students to make a difference in underserved populations and transform the lives of those affected by substance abuse. Graduates holding a bachelor's in addiction counseling will be prepared to evaluate substance use disorders and deliver therapeutic services across various settings including treatment centers, outpatient programs, drug courts, correctional institutions, mental health clinics, and private practices.
The program's coursework covers addiction origins, societal and familial consequences, personalized treatment planning, and rehabilitation-focused therapeutic methods. During their culminating semester, students complete a hands-on internship at a substance abuse facility, integrating classroom knowledge with professional practice in real treatment environments.
