The field of public policy is deeply intertwined with real-world policy implementation, and this program facilitates direct engagement between students, decision-makers, and the researchers who inform policy choices. BSPP graduates will develop expertise in analyzing political, economic, and social limitations affecting policymakers, comparing different policy implementation strategies, measuring policy outcomes, and navigating the profound value conflicts that drive major policy discussions. The Public Policy Major equips students with versatile research, analysis, and management capabilities applicable across various sectors and policy domains. This undergraduate degree opens doors to careers in government (at all levels), nonprofit organizations, and private enterprises, while also providing strong preparation for advanced study in diverse graduate programs that can expand both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
The BSPP curriculum focuses on three key components: interdisciplinary understanding of critical policy challenges, analytical methodologies, and hands-on policy experience. Students can tailor their studies to specific interest areas through specialized tracks, drawing upon the extensive resources and faculty expertise within both the School of Public Policy and the broader OSU academic community.
