OSU graduates earning a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources will gain the ability to combine hands-on field or lab techniques with analytical thinking to address pressing environmental challenges. The program equips students with comprehensive understanding of diverse ecological concerns, experience in cross-disciplinary teamwork, and skills to navigate the societal and policy dimensions of conservation.
The coursework builds expertise in biophysical and social sciences along with quantitative methods. Students master comprehensive environmental stewardship strategies that highlight the interdependence between human systems and natural systems. They also cultivate practical professional abilities including effective communication, teamwork, data interpretation, evaluation techniques, and strategic planning. The program examines preservation and stewardship of vital natural assets including aquatic and terrestrial species, watersheds and soils, and varied habitats from woodlands to grasslands. Through mandatory specialization tracks, students achieve focused expertise by selecting from established concentrations or crafting personalized study paths.
This interdisciplinary Natural Resources degree program, overseen by the College of Forestry, is additionally offered at OSU's Bend campus through OSU-Cascades and via the university's online Ecampus platform.
