The Forest Engineering program offers both Bachelor of Science (BS) and Honors Bachelor of Science (HBS) degrees, which can be obtained either through the standard Forest Engineering track or the combined Forest Engineering-Civil Engineering dual degree option. These programs, including the BS/HBS in Forest Engineering and the dual Forest Engineering-Civil Engineering degrees, hold accreditation from ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission (www.ABET.org). Additionally, the Forest Engineering BS program is recognized by the Society of American Foresters.
Students who complete the five-year dual degree program in Forest Engineering-Civil Engineering receive both a BS in Forest Engineering and a BS in Civil Engineering, the latter awarded by the School of Civil and Construction Engineering. The Civil Engineering BS and HBS degrees are also ABET-accredited. For comprehensive information about design coursework and experience requirements, please consult the Forest Engineering Advising Guide available on the department's website.
In Oregon, forest engineering is a regulated profession. The Forest Engineering BS program satisfies the educational requirements set by the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying (OSBEELS) for eligibility to take the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam - the initial step toward professional engineering licensure. By selecting appropriate electives, the program also meets OSBEELS standards for qualifying students to take the Fundamentals of Land Surveying Examination, the first requirement for professional land surveyor certification.
