The Speech Communication program requires 48 credits of coursework centered on two key themes: interpersonal relationships and rhetorical studies.

In the relational communication track, students explore topics like workplace dynamics, team interactions, healthcare communication, family relationships, cross-cultural exchanges, as well as conflict resolution and mediation techniques. The rhetoric concentration offers studies in debate strategies, influence techniques, propaganda analysis, visual persuasion, activism studies, popular culture analysis, media evaluation, and political communication.

Alumni have pursued successful careers in communication-intensive fields such as corporate communications, professional training, teaching, nonprofit leadership, dispute resolution, political work, marketing, and business leadership. Many have also gained admission to prestigious graduate programs, particularly in legal education.
