The Speech Communication program requires 48 credit hours of coursework centered on two key themes: interpersonal relationships and rhetorical studies.
In the relational communication track, students explore topics like workplace dynamics, team interactions, healthcare communication, family relationships, cross-cultural exchanges, as well as conflict resolution and mediation techniques. The rhetoric concentration offers studies in debate strategies, influence techniques, propaganda analysis, visual persuasion, activism, media analysis, political communication, and popular culture.
Alumni have pursued successful careers in communication-intensive fields such as corporate communications, professional training, teaching, nonprofit leadership, dispute resolution, political work, marketing, and business management. Many graduates have also gained admission to prestigious law schools and other advanced degree programs.
