Ethnic Studies is a multidisciplinary area of study that examines the historical and continuing influence of race and ethnicity, focusing mainly on the United States while considering worldwide perspectives. Pursuing an Ethnic Studies degree equips students with comprehensive knowledge and critical thinking abilities to tackle matters of diversity and inequality across various domains, including government policies, social structures, entertainment, media, and written works.
After finishing the program successfully, graduates will achieve these educational objectives:
Explain the stories and backgrounds of racial and ethnic minorities in America, recognizing them as fundamental components of both national and global historical narratives.
Examine how systemic discrimination, including racism, sexism, and heterosexism, operates beyond personal behaviors and beliefs to create institutionalized patterns of inequality.
