The creative writing major builds on studying writing techniques alongside in-depth literary analysis. Students hone their ability to interpret literature while refining their writing skills.
This program aims to cultivate imaginative thinkers and skilled writers. Graduates will possess sharp analytical, critical, technical, and editing abilities, equipping them for advanced studies in various fields - from MFA programs to legal education - or for careers requiring creative problem-solvers and narrative experts.
After completing the program, students will achieve these educational goals:
Examine writing techniques across different forms, genres, and cultural perspectives.
Implement artistic concepts in their original creative projects.
Provide constructive feedback on peers' work through both spoken and written evaluations.
Employ revision techniques to create refined, publication-ready works.
Identify and analyze diverse literary works and genres (potentially including visual media and cross-cultural texts) using multiple critical approaches such as close reading, and craft compelling arguments about these texts.
