Old Dominion University's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program is an intensive three-year course combining classroom learning, hands-on lab work, digital coursework, assigned readings, collaborative discussions, student-led teaching sessions, specialized seminars, and clinical rotations. The program aims to equip students with the skills to identify, address, and prevent physical impairments while improving individual and community health. Graduates who complete the program qualify to sit for the licensure examination required to become practicing physical therapists.

Have completed or be in the process of completing a bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited institution
Have completed or be in the process of completing all science prerequisite courses as listed on our Prospective Students page
Complete the Graduate Record Exam a score of 148 each on the verbal and quantitative sections and 3.5 on the writing section is recommended
Complete at least 40 hours of volunteer or paid work/observation of physical therapy practice in at least TWO (2) distinctly different PT clinics or settings (treating different patient populations) under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
An earned baccalaureate degree from institutions of higher education accredited by accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for Title IV purposes or international equivalent. at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average for admission to a doctoral program
