A physics degree with an education focus prepares students for careers as high school physics teachers. This program offers comprehensive training in modern physics principles and teaching methodologies.
Chosen by the University for national recognition, the program benefits from Old Dominion's close location (just 30 minutes away) to both the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (TJNAF), a global leader in nuclear physics research, and NASA's Langley Research Center. Over the last two decades, the Physics department has expanded significantly, doubling its faculty count while adding new teaching spaces, lab facilities, and upgraded computer-equipped undergraduate labs. The recently constructed Physical Sciences Research Building creates extensive research possibilities for both graduate and undergraduate students
