Students who earn a Bachelor of Music in Music Education will qualify for recommendation to obtain the necessary certification to teach music in public school systems. The program offers specializations in either vocal or instrumental instruction for students from preschool through 12th grade. Graduates who successfully finish the accredited teacher preparation program (including the Teacher Candidate Internship component) qualify for Virginia's teaching certification, recognized across 47 states through reciprocity agreements. Old Dominion University's Music Education bachelor's program delivers thorough training for aspiring music teachers.
