Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education will qualify for recommendation to obtain the necessary certification to teach music in public school systems. The program offers specializations in either vocal or instrumental music instruction for students from preschool through 12th grade. Those who successfully finish the accredited teacher training curriculum (including the Teacher Candidate Internship component) can apply for a teaching license through the Virginia Department of Education, with reciprocity accepted across 47 states. Old Dominion University's Bachelor of Music in Music Education equips future music teachers with thorough professional training.
