The Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies enables students to craft a personalized degree by combining courses across multiple disciplines. This flexible program empowers learners to select subjects that align with their interests, creating a customized academic journey. Participants focus on a unifying theme that bridges traditional boundaries between fields like literature, art, history, science, or mathematics. This cross-disciplinary method opens doors to diverse career possibilities through its broad educational foundation.
While the program doesn't mandate specific courses, students must choose classes from at least two distinct fields, with guidance available from their advisory committee. With committee approval, up to nine graduate credits may be transferred from other accredited programs. Students can select from these degree options:
A 30-credit path featuring a six-credit research thesis,
A 32-credit non-thesis alternative. This may incorporate a culminating experience (such as an internship, practicum, comprehensive exam, portfolio, or capstone project) and allows for a final report with a maximum of three research credits.
