The Master of Science in agricultural education and leadership stands as one of the nation's premier programs, equipping students for success in both traditional and alternative teaching careers. This curriculum also cultivates essential leadership competencies for professionals pursuing opportunities in agribusiness, government roles, extension services, or adult education programs.
Offered through OSU's Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Leadership, this graduate program emphasizes research preparation. Alongside specialized courses in agricultural leadership, participants can select complementary coursework from any department within the Ferguson College of Agriculture.
Thesis Track
This pathway mandates completion of 30 approved credit hours, which includes a six-credit thesis project. Students conduct substantive scholarly research, typically addressing issues of statewide or national significance, with their thesis presenting comprehensive analysis of research outcomes.
Research Report Alternative
This option requires 32 approved credit hours, incorporating a two-credit formal research report. While maintaining rigorous research standards, this format allows for somewhat less extensive literature reviews or statistical examinations compared to the thesis requirement.
