The Master of Arts (MA) in Theatre program equips students for advanced academic pursuits or professional theater careers. Our intimate, nurturing environment allows graduate students to engage in both scholarly and creative work. The program's core faculty hold terminal degrees and maintain active professional involvement in theater practice and research worldwide. Visiting artists regularly contribute to productions, conduct specialized workshops, deliver lectures, and help students build industry connections. The MA curriculum includes foundational studies in theater history, dramatic literature, criticism, directing, and dramaturgy. Students can pursue either a thesis track or a creative project track, with creative options including performance, directing, dramaturgy, or production work. All students design personalized study plans through elective coursework, while also completing at least one approved interdisciplinary course outside the Theatre Department to broaden their academic perspective.
