The Mathematics Department provides three doctoral focus areas: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, and Mathematics Education. The Ph.D. program aims to equip mathematicians for careers in academic teaching, university research, or industrial research settings. As the most advanced academic degree, Ph.D. holders must demonstrate comprehensive mathematical understanding alongside specialized research expertise.
