Development Economics examines the economies of developing nations and their populations. It applies economic principles to explore ways to enhance these countries' economic systems and their citizens' living standards. Consequently, Development Economics intersects with numerous economic disciplines. Our faculty primarily concentrates on empirical microeconomic research in development, employing diverse methodologies. They actively conduct fieldwork, gathering both observational and experimental data.
The OSU economics doctoral program equips students for academic careers, as well as research and leadership roles in business and government sectors. Alumni hold prominent positions at institutions like the Federal Reserve Bank, Korea Energy Economics Institute, and various universities worldwide, including University of Alaska-Anchorage, Wichita State University, Renmin University of China, Sakarya University in Turkey, Northern Lights College in Canada, University of Minnesota, Northeastern State University, and IIT Rourkee.
