The Master in the Study of Law (MSL) at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law provides a flexible alternative to conventional three-year JD programs, tailored for experienced professionals seeking legal knowledge to enhance their careers. Participants customize their coursework by selecting classes alongside JD students at this top-tier public law school. The program requires successful completion of 30 credit hours, with full-time students often finishing in one year and part-time students typically completing requirements within four years. MSL candidates learn alongside JD students in foundational and advanced courses led by distinguished faculty, including multiple former U.S. Supreme Court clerks and accomplished legal scholars. The curriculum includes three core first-year law courses to establish fundamental legal knowledge, after which students can either collaborate with faculty advisors to create personalized study plans or specialize in areas such as Corporate Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Dispute Resolution, Intellectual Property and Information Law, International and Comparative Law, or Labor and Employment Law.
