The doctoral program in oral biology brings together an interdisciplinary team of twenty-nine faculty members from three health sciences colleges (dentistry, medicine, and veterinary medicine) along with the Comprehensive Cancer Center. This program primarily emphasizes hands-on laboratory training in research methodologies. Participants learn to formulate hypotheses, create coherent research plans, gather and interpret scientific data, and communicate research outcomes effectively. The curriculum covers both foundational and contemporary scientific knowledge relevant to dental and craniofacial studies. Students develop skills to identify and investigate important scientific questions using cutting-edge techniques. Coursework spans fundamental cell biology, systems biology, and biomaterials, with all students mastering core cellular processes. Program graduates will be equipped for research and teaching positions in both academic institutions and industry settings.
