As a premier global institution, The Ohio State University provides extensive resources across its picturesque Columbus, Ohio campus. Within this vibrant academic environment, the School of Music operates under the College of Arts and Sciences, serving as Ohio State's intellectual core. The school maintains an ideal balance - large enough to leverage the boundless opportunities of a top-tier university, yet intimate enough to address each student's personal development. Established in the 19th century, the School of Music now provides students, faculty, and visiting artists with a dynamic space for creating outstanding music, fostering artistic excellence, investigating teaching approaches, and pioneering research. Organized into specialized study areas led by dedicated directors, the School boasts faculty members including acclaimed performers, composers, researchers, and educators, complemented by expert full-time and adjunct instructors. These educators mentor about 300 undergraduate and 150 graduate music majors, along with numerous non-majors pursuing music minors, coursework, or participation in diverse performance groups.
