As a premier global institution, The Ohio State University provides extensive resources across its scenic Columbus campus. Within this vibrant academic environment, the School of Music operates under the College of Arts and Sciences, serving as Ohio State's core academic division. The school maintains an ideal balance - large enough to leverage the opportunities of a top-tier university, yet intimate enough to focus on each student's personal development. Established in the 19th century, the School of Music now provides a dynamic space for students, faculty, and visiting artists to create outstanding music, foster artistic development, investigate teaching approaches, and pioneer innovative research. Organized into specialized study areas, each led by dedicated faculty heads, the school boasts renowned performers, composers, scholars, and educators, complemented by expert full-time and adjunct instructors. These faculty members mentor about 300 undergraduate and 150 graduate music majors, along with numerous non-majors pursuing music minors, coursework, or participation in diverse performance groups.
