The Ohio State Biochemistry Program (OSBP) is a cross-disciplinary graduate initiative that educates students in exploring the molecular foundations of life and illness. Participants in this program pursue a PhD in Biochemistry by performing innovative research in top-tier laboratories. OSBP offers approximately 100 faculty mentors across diverse fields including Chemistry and Biochemistry, Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Physics, Physiology and Cell Biology, Cancer Biology and Genetics, Engineering, and the College of Medicine. Key research focuses encompass: Chemical biology and enzyme studies, Disease mechanisms at the molecular level, Molecular biology and genetics, as well as Molecular biophysics and structural biology. Student education spans fundamental physical biochemistry, structural biology, and molecular genetics, extending to developing therapeutic approaches for diseases. Participants acquire both theoretical knowledge and hands-on biochemical expertise, develop research presentation abilities, attend global scientific meetings, and engage in seminar programs featuring distinguished international experts.
