Biochemistry explores biological molecules, their cellular functions, and chemical interactions within living organisms. The Integrated Program in Biochemistry (IPiB) combines graduate studies from the Department of Biochemistry (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences) and the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry (School of Medicine and Public Health). This program educates future biochemists, equipping them to tackle scientific challenges in the modern era. IPiB provides a PhD with a biochemistry major, and while an MS degree is available, students are not admitted solely for a master's program.
Spanning atoms to entire organisms, IPiB's biochemistry research leads advancements in contemporary science. With approximately 100 graduate students and 56 distinguished faculty, the program drives innovative studies across diverse fields such as cell biology, chemical biology, enzymology, immunology, metabolism, molecular genetics, structural biology, and virology. Students develop analytical skills applicable to various career paths after graduation.
IPiB's extensive scope and scale offer exceptional prospects for graduate students seeking a top-tier biochemistry education. State-of-the-art facilities foster collaborative, dynamic research environments where groundbreaking discoveries thrive.
International applicants must have a degree comparable to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree.
