The Neuroscience program delves into the biological foundations of behavior by examining how the nervous system influences typical and atypical actions, thoughts, and emotions. This interdisciplinary field investigates the structure and operations of the nervous system across various scales—from molecular processes to behavioral patterns—covering topics like development, sensory perception, cognition, memory formation, motor control, sleep cycles, stress responses, aging, and neurological/psychological conditions. Students gain comprehensive training that equips them for careers in biomedical research, pharmaceuticals, or advanced studies in neuroscience, psychology, pharmacology, medicine, and neurobiology.
As a Neuroscience student at Nova Southeastern University, you'll engage in hands-on research alongside peers and professors from day one. NSU provides access to Florida's cutting-edge research hub—the Center for Collaborative Research—located directly on campus. This program blends psychology, biology, physics, and chemistry to create pathways for advanced studies and careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, rehabilitation therapies, psychology, nursing, and beyond. NSU empowers students to pioneer discoveries and achieve professional excellence.
Through the Clinic Exploration Program (CEP), undergraduates can observe healthcare professionals across NSU's medical facilities. Participants gain invaluable insights into interdisciplinary medical practice and firsthand exposure to diverse career paths. Open to all majors, CEP involves three-week rotations (two hours weekly) with flexible volunteer commitments, allowing students to explore medicine without academic pressure.
