The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering offered by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering employs an interdisciplinary method to train future environmental engineers. This ABET-accredited four-year program gives students a solid grounding in environmental engineering fundamentals while allowing them to incorporate essential subjects such as basic sciences, social sciences, humanities, and public policy into their studies.
Environmental engineering graduates can pursue diverse career paths in both public and private sectors. Alumni frequently work as engineering designers, business analysts, and regulatory agency staff engineers at organizations like the Environmental Protection Agency. Numerous graduates further their education at renowned institutions specializing in engineering, law, medicine, public health, and management.

Northwestern accepts results from both the TOEFL and the IELTS.
There is no minimum score required by Northwestern. Competitive applicants demonstrate a high level of English proficiency and often score in the high range on all four sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing) of the TOEFL iBT, or receive IELTS band scores in highest three bands on the overall and individual scores (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking).
